EAEA Gives Eco Stoves in Tribute to World Environment Day in Uganda

East Africa Entrepreneurs Association (EAEA) has donated seven eco stoves to underprivileged families living in slums of Panda Pier located in Nakawa Division, Kampala. This was done in tribute of the World Environment Day on June 5, 2024.

The Eco Stoves are devising safe and environment friendly means of cooking; addressing deforestation, indoor air pollution (IAP) and other adverse effects associated with non renewable biomass energy like charcoal stove use in urban areas and open earth fire systems in most rural settings.

The eco stoves are not only environment friendly but also have the potential to reduce on the charcoal bill by 75%. The volcanic rocks used in eco stoves are mainly extracted from Kisoro district and are abundantly available in the whole of the East African Right Valley area.

In Panda Pier village, cooking is done in an open space using traditional three stone fire cookstoves that use plenty of firewood. This intervention will facilitate the village’s shift to energy efficient cooking, enabling savings on the charcoal bill by 75%.
