EAEA Opens New Opportunities for Members Through ECOFOOD Uganda Project

Gulu, Uganda — 9 March 2026: East Africa Entrepreneurs Association (EAEA) has taken another important step toward creating practical opportunities for entrepreneurs, agribusinesses, women-led enterprises, and inclusive businesses through its participation in the ECOFOOD Uganda Project Kick-Off Meeting held on 9 March 2026 at Bomah Hotel, Gulu.

The ECOFOOD Uganda Project, officially titled “Sustainability and Inclusive Agri-Food Chains for Women and Persons with Disabilities,” is designed to strengthen sustainable agri-food value chains while increasing the participation of women and persons with disabilities in enterprise development, production, processing, market access, and economic growth.

EAEA participated in the meeting as a project partner, reaffirming its commitment to connecting members and local enterprises to business development support, market opportunities, inclusive value chains, and sustainable growth pathways in the agri-food sector.

EAEA was represented physically by Ms. Joanita Kiwanuka Nakiwala, while Mr. Tony Wamala participated online. The meeting brought together key project partners, including CBM Uganda, CEFORD, NUDIPU, and other implementing partners, to align on the project framework, partner roles, coordination systems, reporting requirements, visibility guidelines, and implementation timelines.

During the meeting, partners discussed how the project will support inclusive and sustainable agri-food systems, with special focus on women, persons with disabilities, and community-based enterprises. The discussions also emphasized coordinated implementation, strong documentation, timely reporting, and effective collaboration among partners.

Through this project, EAEA’s role will focus on areas that directly matter to its members, including:

– Entrepreneurship development;

– Business development support;

– Market access facilitation;

– Inclusive value chain strengthening;

– Private sector engagement;

– Enterprise sustainability and growth.

For EAEA members, the project represents an opportunity to strengthen participation in inclusive agri-food value chains, learn from coordinated development initiatives, and position enterprises for future business support, partnerships, and market linkages.

The kick-off meeting provided a strong foundation for implementation and enabled EAEA to align its contribution with the broader project objectives. The official ECOFOOD Uganda Project launch was proposed for 17 April 2026, with final arrangements to be coordinated by the project leadership team.

EAEA remains committed to ensuring that its members continue to benefit from strategic partnerships, donor-funded initiatives, business development support, and inclusive market opportunities that promote enterprise growth and sustainable livelihoods.
